New Beginnings

Hello! My name is Jessica and welcome to Signature Organizing. I am a wife, mother of three, Kirkland resident and a new business owner. It has been a journey to get to this point and I’m honored to have you along for the ride. Thank you for your continued support and encouragement. I’ve had a front seat to many other entrepreneurs but I wasn’t quite sure that I would ever take the leap myself. My parents started their own company out of their home in Spokane, Washington when I was in second grade. Some of my first paychecks growing up were from their marketing business and I even met my husband Jordan at their golf show in 2008.

When we were first married I started a blog to document my budget friendly decorating projects, Starbucks barista stories, and early marriage lessons. I’ve always wondered what would’ve happened if I had stuck with it. Fast forward 14 years and here I am once again. Before becoming a mother I worked at the University of Washington in fundraising for the College of Arts and Sciences for almost five years. I oversaw a variety of events with faculty, donors and students. During this season I learned how much I enjoyed the details, creativity and problem solving required to plan meaningful experiences.

This led me to explore event planning as a career by taking on a few weddings of friends (thanks Stupey family!) but I quickly discovered it still wasn’t quite the right fit. I love weddings but prefer to be a guest :) Then we welcomed my son Evan in 2014 and my whole world turned upside down in the very best way. While I was pregnant I got my insurance license so that I could help Jordan in his Farmers Agency from home. I’ve loved watching my husband grow his business and am so proud of where he is today. I’m still his biggest fan but over time, we’ve realized that we’d like to keep that part of our lives more separate.

We continue to have many discussions about what life might look like when our kids - Evan (9), Addison (7), and Charlotte (4) - become more independent and I’m able to return to work. Over time, I’ve realized that my love for detail has never left. After five moves, four cities, and three kids I’ve grown to understand the value of an organized home. Not to be confused with a perfect home. We still live here. I continue to struggle with perfectionism but I am learning that there is beauty in failure and that is how you grow. It is often uncomfortable but that is where the change happens. It's easy to listen to my Peloton instructors (hey Ally Love, Emma Lovewell and Matt Wilpers!) challenge my fitness but the life application has been harder to implement.

So welcome to my business adventure and thank you for taking the time to read. When I’m not organizing you can find me volunteering at church or my kids school, running, drinking coffee, thrift shopping, cheering on the Cougs (my alma mater) or spending time with my family outdoors anytime we can. Our favorite activities are biking and swimming. Stay tuned for more organizing updates on my blog or newsletter. Talk soon!
